About the inventor

Hello, my name is Merrill Washburn, the inventor of the 3 in 1 tennis backboard.  I have always enjoyed the game of tennis. In fact, I have personally attended all four of the major tournaments: Wimbledon, the French Open, the Australian Open, and the US Open. I played on my high school tennis team, but never played in college or at the university level.  I always wanted to be a better player, but couldn’t afford private lessons, or  a membership at a private tennis club. For me, it was not easy finding a hitting partner or someone to practice with, and the tennis courts that I was familiar with did not have backboards. My first experience hitting against a wall was at the public school, hitting against a brick wall. Brick walls do not give a consistent or desirable rebound. 

Later on, as I researched tennis backboards that were on the market and available for purchase, I found them to be expensive, large and difficult to install. I then spent several years on the design and development of a better backboard.  After developing a prototype,  I filed for a patent in July, 2019; US APPLICATION  NUMBER 16/518,289.  The title of the invention is “An advanced and versatile tennis backboard utilizing flex technology.”  I think you will find that the 3 in 1 tennis backboard is the most advanced and versatile backboard available.
